How to calculate and draw shear, moment, deflection diagrams using MCAD.

First, we define “Moment of Inertia” as the picture below:

Define Moment of Inertia

Normally, we choose orientation of force is  vertical if forces are longitudinal

And we set up “Deflection line” by click button:

We select “moment of inertia” we created before and select the beam ( as a line).

After that, choose support and force as exercise:

Select Material of beam.

And calculate moment and deflection:

Beam calculation

We can set “number of nodes/segments to divide”. In this example, we set the value is 1000.

Now, we can check by comparing with the calculation below:

F = P =1000N

Max bending moment at the fix support is M = P.l =1000N.1,2m= 1200Nm !

Max deflection (S2) at the free end of beam:

S2 = (Pl^3)/3EI = 1000.1200^3/(3.210000.78539800) = 0,03492314mm !
